3D Spool Piece Metrology Testing

This sonar imagery was taken during spool piece metrology testing in Peterhead Scotland.  Pipe Flanges where positioned around an empty drydock, a ground based survey was performed, the drydock was then flooded, and a 3D acoustic scan was made of the site.  Using standard laser scanning software packages, piping components were modeled to the point cloud data, and engineering CAD drawings of the scene were produced.  Not only is this method faster, it provides much more information about the space between the flange ends for project planning.
